Could Slipknot’s Corey Taylor be performing at Warped Tour this year?

Apparently Slipknot’s Corey Taylor is mulling over the possibility of performing a date or two on Warped Tour this summer, if a recent Twitter exchange is to be believed. Considering the addition of more metal bands than ever before (Alestorm, Municipal Waste, Emmure) to the vaunted summer institution, this wouldn’t be all that surprising – especially when you remember that Carnifex recently did a well-received cover of Slipknot’s “The Heretic Anthem” on their massive headlining tour earlier this year, which also featured Fallujah and Rings Of Saturn.

This kind of thing wouldn’t be without precedent, if you really think about it. It wasn’t but a couple years ago where Linkin Park performed at Warped Tour, and members of Dangerkids, A Day To Remember, and Issues performed with them as well. The Vans Warped Tour may have started as primarily a punk/pop-punk styled festival, but it has clearly evolved into something else even more sustainable at this point, adding a number of diverse and groundbreaking acts recently.

Corey Taylor actually responded to a tweet from Carnifex vocalist Scott Lewis, and it’s something that had a LOT of fans talking – for good reason – the results of which you can find below.

This exchange surely has many fans of both bands excited at this point. It would make a lot of sense in the realm of good timing, as Corey Taylor will be supporting the new Stone Sour album Hydrograd all summer, and since Carnifex is playing the Vans Warped Tour all summer, it would definitely be a treat. Let’s hope this is something that actually happens, because it would make a lot of sense – and anyone there lucky enough to witness it would likely be shocked. Carnifex in particular have already had a HUGE past 12 months supporting their most recent album Slow Death, so this would be icing on the cake.
